Absolutely Perfect - Schurter and Neff take World Championship Gold Down Unda'
Nino Schurter pushes his perfect season to a close with his third rainbow jersey in as many tries
Remember that time when a Swiss cross-country rider won both the Olympic Gold Medal and the UCI World Championship Rainbow Stripes? And then he promptly followed it up the next season by winning the Cape Epic, every single UCI World Cup XCO event and the World Championships? Remember that?
Yeah, that happened. It actually just happened. And it will most likely never happen again.
So, mark it down in your calendar — September 9, 2017, Cairns, Australia. Scott – SRAM rider Nino Schurter completed his perfect season by winning his third UCI Mountain Bike World XCO Championship in a row. And that’s after winning all of the 2017 World Cup rounds.
If there was ever a definition of ‘want’ it was Jolanda Neff’s Rainbow-winning 2017 World Championship ride
Few things in the world are as beautiful as an elite athlete so completely focused on winning. At the 2017 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, Jolanda Neff was that focus.
It was not really Neff’s year for most of 2017, but the Swiss superhero charged back, capturing a perfectly timed win at the World Cup final in Val di Sole.
Jolanda’s lesson in ‘wanting the win’, this past Saturday, was absolutely sensational, from starting gun to finishing line. And if you missed out the most incredibly honest podium tears in history, well, your loss. But the replay is still available at redbull.com
